Thorsten Drücker (* 1976 in Gütersloh ) is a German classical guitarist , music producer and composer .

Life

Pusher comes from the Gütersloh district of Spexard ; his father was a heating engineer . Drücker played guitar "since early childhood" and later also the clarinet . He began studying classical guitar at the age of 16; He received his first diploma with distinction at the age of twenty.

He studied classical guitar from 1992 to 2003, initially at the Osnabrück Conservatory with Ulrich Müller. This was followed by further studies and master classes at the Music Academy of Kassel, at the Freiburg Conservatory and at the Academy of Music Basel with the classical guitarist Michael Comforter (Kassel), Sonja Prunnbauer (Freiburg) and Oscar Ghiglia , or at Hubert Käppel, Aniello Desiderio & David Russel. He passed his concert diploma as classical guitarist at the Musikhochschule Basel (international master class Oscar Ghiglia).

Drücker has been working as a freelance musician, composer and producer since 2002 . In 2003 he gave up his permanent position as a guitar teacher, but continued to give freelance guitar lessons in order to keep himself afloat financially in the early years of his professional independence. In the following years Thorsten Drücker worked primarily as a guitarist and music producer in the rock, pop and hit fields. He went on tour with the pop singer André Stade , appeared in television programs, including the music program Super-Hitparade der Volksmusik , moderated by Carolin Reiber , and gave concerts as a classical guitarist. Between 2004 and 2009 he accompanied the singer Hubert Kah in concerts and television appearances; He contributed compositions and productions to his album Seelentaucher , which was released in 2005 .

Since 2004 Drücker has had regular engagements at the Kassel State Theater and the Musiktheater im Revier (Gelsenkirchen). At the Schauspielhaus he accompanied recitals, in which he also took over the musical direction and supported the incidental music of other pieces. At the opera house he played in special concerts as a soloist and orchestral musician, as well as in musicals , operas and operettas in the Kassel State Orchestra and the New Westphalia Philharmonic . At the Staatstheater Kassel he worked as a stage musician in the productions Hair , Jesus Christ Superstar , South Pacific , The Black Rider , The Cousin from Dingsda and The Flower of Hawaii . In the 2010/2011 season he performed at the Staatstheater Kassel as a musician and singer in the recital Spiel mir das Lied von Tod ; at this recital he also took over the musical direction.

In 2010 he appeared at the Musiktheater im Revier in the opera Gloriana by Benjamin Britten ; In it he played a cister , a rare historical plucked instrument . In the 2010/2011 season he appeared there as a soloist in the HÖR.GENUSS concert series .

Thorsten Drücker has also been a guest as a soloist and orchestral musician with other orchestras since 2005: He has played with the Bochum Symphony Orchestra , the Staatskapelle Weimar , the Loh Orchestra Nordhausen and the WDR Radio Orchestra in Cologne . The highlight of his previous work as a guitarist was a CD recording with the WDR radio orchestra in 2010. Drücker recorded three solo concerts for guitar and orchestra under the direction of the conductor Rasmus Baumann . In addition to the rarely performed concerts for classical guitar and orchestra by Elmer Bernstein and Malcolm Arnold , the world premiere recording of the electric guitar concert was recorded by Michael Daugherty . It is the first recording in which a guitarist performs both classical guitar and electric guitar as a soloist.

As a composer and producer, he has released various albums for the record companies DA-music, Luxury music (SPV), AMU and BMG since 2004. In addition to Schlager (purple), rock (Marjana) and punk (free), he published CDs with instrumental music in which the classical guitar is again in the foreground. At the end of 2006 he recorded the Temporadas varias CD with works by Manuel María Ponce . The album Hiroshima Bordell by his rock band "Mobserv" represents a special position in the field of music production . The album is accompanied by a book by the author and Mobserv member Boris Fust. The book Twelve Hours Are Not a Day (Piper-Verlag) is about the group Mobserv, whose texts are printed in the book and mainly set to music by Thorsten Drücker on Hiroshima brothel .

In addition to classical guitar and electric guitar (rock, pop, jazz) he also plays lapsteel (Hawaiian guitar), banjo , cister, mandolin , bass, singing saw , drums and sings.

Thorsten Drücker has been an artistic assistant at the Detmold University of Music, based at the University of Paderborn , since September 2012 , where he teaches the subjects of guitar and music production.
