The Rastatt riddle is about two fountains by the artist Jürgen Goertz in Rastatt .

The first sculpture by Goertz was made in 1980 and is located on the station forecourt in Rastatt . It shows two people hugging each other under an umbrella that acts as a fountain. The identity of the people and their exact relationship to one another remain open, since the heads of the people cannot be seen. Only an older man and a larger female figure remain recognizable.

In 1984 Goertz solved the riddle for the time being: he created a second fountain at the museum gate, at the end of the Rastatt pedestrian zone, where the umbrella was removed and again serves as a fountain. Next to the fountain now stands the same sculpture as on the station forecourt, but this time with the heads of the people. Undoubtedly, a homage to Picasso can be seen here, who embraces the female figure with a palette and brush.

However, if the sculpture is viewed from the rear, a new riddle arises, as gear-like fossils and a bull's skull with a disfigured woman's face emerge.
