Jürgen Goertz
Jürgen Goertz (born March 13, 1939 in Czeluścin , Poland) is a German sculptor .
Life
Jürgen Goertz grew up in the village of Coasts (Wendland) after the Second World War - he later created the interior for the Friedenskirche there - he graduated from high school in Lüchow in 1960 and studied sculpture at the Karlsruhe Art Academy from 1963 to 1966 . He graduated with an exam in art education. In 1970 he married the painter Christa Heyn. In 1971 and 1972 he was given a teaching position at the Academy of Fine Arts in Karlsruhe. A first exhibition of his works took place in 1974 at the Badischer Kunstverein Karlsruhe. In 1974 his daughter Eva-Julia was born. In 2004 he was awarded the honorary title “Prof. hc “as an important sculptor. The award was given by the then Prime Minister of Baden-Württemberg Erwin Teufel . Jürgen Goertz is a member of the German Association of Artists , he lives and works in Eichtersheim south of Heidelberg . His studio is located in the secular Eichtersheim Castle Church .
Works
Goertz is known for expressive sculptures made of bronze and other materials. In southern Germany in particular , many of his works are present as art in public spaces . In 1987, Goertz caused international press coverage with the controversial Ku (h) riosum in Bietigheim-Bissingen . At the artist's place of work, in Angelbachtal- Eichtersheim, more than ten of his sculptures are displayed in the palace gardens and on the adjacent Friedrich-Hecker-Platz, including a copy of the Ku (h) riosum .

- 1992/96: Augustine figure and sculpture ensemble on the subject of mining. in front of the provost church of St. Augustine in Gelsenkirchen

- 1998: Design of the altar, baptismal font and pulpit in the Peace Church in Coasts (Wendland) as well as six wall reliefs
- 1998: Design of the museum cellar in the Simplicissimushaus Renchen, u. a. with the mythical creature
- 2000: Large sculpture " S-Printing Horse " on the forecourt of the Print Media Academy in Heidelberg (largest horse sculpture in the world)
- 2001: Art concept of several hundred head shapes in different stylistic variants for the House of Heads, Villa Visconti in Bietigheim-Bissingen. The villa opened on June 15, 2003.
