Fountain gallery in Wiesloch

The fountain gallery in Wiesloch on Adenauerplatz in front of the Laurentiuskirche presents seven objects by various artists in and near a fountain as part of art in public space . The establishment of the ensemble was initiated in 2007/08 by the Art for Wiesloch Community Foundation .

history

When the city of Wiesloch planned to clear the Adenauerplatz from the trees and flower troughs that had previously been located there, the patrons Grete and Helmut Bergdolt, on whose initiative both the Kunstverein Wiesloch and the Community Foundation Art for Wiesloch , sat down to build a fountain on the Place. This fountain should not only take up the baroque forms of the neighboring Laurentiuskirche, but also represent the diversity of art that has already been created in the public urban space. For this purpose, seven works, mainly by artists who were already represented in the cityscape, were purchased and mounted on plinths in and near the fountain. The total costs amounted to around 270,000 euros and were mainly financed by the art foundation.

Objects shown

Six of the seven objects are on plinths in the water or on the edge of the fountain. The Guardian Angel by Jürgen Goertz acts as a gargoyle. The object Meditation by Anne Sewcz was placed on a pedestal outside the fountain.
