Hans Scheib is one of the formative German wood sculptors of the present, in his work he consistently refuses all fashion trends and isms , he is concerned with his very personal message. His work has received official appreciation through a large number of exhibitions at home and abroad, through various awards. It is based on the tradition of an expressive formal language, which is rooted on the one hand in the conscious reflection of the colored wood sculpture of the Brücke expressionists and on the other hand communicates with the tradition of Gothic wood carving. Far from the aesthetics of the beautiful appearance, this work corresponds to a fundamental examination of content that also reacts to contemporary historical and current challenges.
