Employment, Social Policy, Health and Consumer Affairs Council
The Council for Employment, Social Affairs, Health and Consumer Protection , in short. EPSCO ( Employment, Social Policy, Health and Consumer Affairs Council , EPSCO) is a formation of the Council of the European Union in which the ministers of the EU member states who are responsible for these policy areas meet around four times a year .
The Council deals with questions of EU social policy and EU gender equality policy . He deals with u. a. with the harmonization and coordination of national legislation, in particular with regard to working conditions (health and safety of workers, social security, participation of workers in the life of companies). In the context of EU employment policy , the Council sets common goals for all Member States, analyzes national measures and adopts recommendations addressed to the Member States
Coordination of politics in Germany
In Germany, which is the leadership of the European policy coordination at the Federal Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs (Council Part-Time Employment and Social Affairs ) and the Federal Ministry of Health (Council member health) and by 2013 at the Federal Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Consumer Protection (Consumer Protection).
