The town hall in Adelshofen , a district of Eppingen in the Heilbronn district in northern Baden-Württemberg , was built in 1904/05 in Art Nouveau style. The building was the town hall until Adelshofen was incorporated into Eppingen and has been the administrative office ever since.

history

An older town hall in Adelshofen from the time after the Thirty Years War was objected to as early as 1884 by the Eppingen district office in Baden because of its poor state of construction. However, the construction of a new building dragged on for another two decades.

The town hall was planned by the government master builder Graf from Mannheim, built from 1904 and inaugurated in August 1905. The building was the town hall until Adelshofen was incorporated into Eppingen in 1971 and has been an administrative office since then. In addition to its actual purpose as the seat of administration, the building was also used for many other purposes in the past; Meetings, choir rehearsals, school lessons and further training, meat sales and tobacco appraisals took place there. At times the building was also the seat of the local post office, and in the 1930s it was also used for film screenings.

description

The building is a two-storey building with two attic storeys, a town hall clock on a dormer and a bell tower. The building faces south with its front. On the left side of the first floor there was originally the citizens' hall, in the middle the staircase, on the right a guard room, followed by a detention cell. The slightly recessed entrance area is protected from the weather by a two-arched arbor. On the upper floor was the mayor's room on the left, behind it the room of the municipal treasury. On the right-hand side of the upper floor there was the land registry office and, behind it, a fire-proof room for storing files. To the east is a single-storey extension that was originally used as a syringe house.

On the western gable side there is a fountain with the city's coat of arms. A commemorative plaque for those who took part in the war in 1870/71 was inaugurated at the same time as the town hall under the arbor .
