Town hall (Chur)
The town hall of the Grisons capital Chur is a late Gothic listed building and is located in the old town at Poststrasse 33 .
The Chur city fire of 1464 had also devastated the previous building, which consisted of several, probably three different house units. This forced a new building that brought the separate components together in a single building and still housed a hospital until 1554. What is striking about this building is the uneven, trapezoidal floor plan and the sloping roof ridge with a roof turret from 1560.
In the middle part there is a hall open on both sides with cross vaults , which rest on four round supporting columns from around 1540. The city's largest goods transhipment point used to be located here.
The interior is rich in wall paneling from the Renaissance period in several rooms , which was extensively restored in 1943. The great council chamber is most splendidly decorated with a tower oven high to the ceiling. Here - formerly the meeting place of the church association and after 1803 the legislature of the young canton of Graubünden - the municipal council still meets in public today. The town hall also houses the Chur town archives and the civil registry office, the room of which has stucco work in its vault from around 1730.
The Chur town hall is included in the list of cultural assets of national importance in the canton of Graubünden .
