The town hall in Geiselwind

The town hall of the Geiselwind market is the representative administrative seat of the Lower Franconian community in the Kitzingen district . It stands on the market square in the middle of the village.

history

The house on the market square was first mentioned in the 15th century. Even then, the mayor was sitting there, the councilors and the clerk met. At that time, the ground floor was occupied by market stalls . In 1669 the town hall was extended and received its current appearance. The façade was designed with half-timbering , which, however, was hidden under a layer of plaster for a long time.

In 1887 the Geiselwinder post office was set up on the ground floor . In 1934 the framework was exposed. The town hall was renovated for the first time in the 1950s, and it was rebuilt in 1962. After the municipal reform, the municipality continued to grow, plans were made to renovate the town hall and an extension was built between 1988 and 1990. The old building is classified as a monument .

architecture

The town hall presents itself as a two-storey gable building on the market square. The ground floor was built in solid construction. The windows are equipped with drilled frames. The portal also has ears. The upper floor and the gable are decorated with rich half-timbering. Three window axes, also with ear framing, divide the upper floor. The town hall ends with a pointed gable roof .
