Town Hall (Wilsdruff)
The town hall in Wilsdruff was built in 1755 on the site of a previous building from 1546 according to plans by Johann Christoph Knöffel in the Rococo style . In 1897 it was redesigned in the style of historicism .
history
In 1546 the town hall was built at the highest point on the market square (266 m above sea level - corner of Dresdner Straße). The building was destroyed in the city fire on June 5, 1744. In 1755/56 the town hall was built according to designs by Knöffel . The new building was carried out by Samuel Locke . The inauguration took place in 1758. In 1897 the building was extensively reconstructed in the style of historicism , such as the historicist version of the neo-renaissance . The main facade was given an aedicule-like balcony design, while the side facade was given a neo-Renaissance gable top.
The Wilsdruffer Town Hall has the world's first bell tower carillon, it was inaugurated on September 19, 2003.
