The Town Hall Altentreptow in Altentreptow is a building that in 1869 during the period of historicism in the neo-Gothic Tudor style was built.

history

Treptow, from 1292 also Altentreptow, was built in the 13th century. In 1534 Thomas Kantzow reported in the first German Chronicle of Pomerania about a “beautiful” and “solid” town hall in the Gothic style. During the War of the Szczecin Succession in the 15th century, the city was set on fire; the first town hall with all its documents burned down.

A new, second town hall , with three Gothic gables, was built, as can be seen in an engraving by Eilhard Lubinus from 1618 ( Lubin map ). During the Thirty Years' War and afterwards Treptow fell into disrepair and burned down twice. The second town hall fell into disrepair. Around 1663 a logement (hotel) was the seat of the municipal administration. In a dispute with the fortress commander, the city was able to maintain this provisional quarter and the commandant's office was built on what is now the riding arena . In 1734 the second town hall was so dilapidated that it was demolished. Only 1611 people lived in the city at that time.

In 1748 the third town hall was built for the impoverished town , a simple half-timbered building that had to give way to the new town hall in 1868.

On October 18, 1869, today's fourth town hall was inaugurated by Mayor Westphal. The building with the red stone facades in the English style of the historicist era is characterized by the four corner turrets. The hipped roof was covered with shingles . The original wall battlements were removed with roof tiles during a roof renovation. The four corner pinnacles became shorter. From the 1950s, only the People's Police used the house and the city administration had to be content with a temporary barracks on Teetzlebener Strasse . In 1984 the city was able to move back into the town hall. In 1995, the town hall was thoroughly renovated as part of the urban development subsidy and re-inaugurated by Mayor Sybille Kempf.
