Town hall in Bad Lauchstädt

The Bad Lauchstädt town hall is a listed building in the town of Bad Lauchstädt in Saxony-Anhalt . In the local register of monuments it is recorded as a monument under registration number 094 20630 .

history

Today's town hall was built in 1678. As the seat of a count palatine for centuries and with town charter since 1430, there are many indications that a town hall may have been built before, but there are no more traces of it. Contrary to the typical construction of town halls in central Germany, this town hall does not have a town hall tower. In the course of time, a dance hall was added to the building, but it was hardly used as such because of additional dance halls, such as the Goldener Stern and Zum Kronprinz von Prussian inns . The dance hall was then used in the 19th century as a classroom and also for magistrate meetings, citizens' assemblies and court hearings. The building is still the seat of the mayor and the city administration.

description

The current appearance of the town hall with its pointed dormer windows and the quarry stone facade was created in the second half of the 20th century. Originally the building was plastered. Above the entrance door on the south side of the building there is a relief of the city coat of arms, a lion holding three towers in its front paw.

location

The town hall is on the western front of the market square of Bad Lauchstädt, at the address Markt 1 .
