The Oelsnitz town hall is a listed administrative building on the market in Oelsnitz / Vogtl.

history

Today's town hall Oelsnitz on the south side of the market square was built between 1861 and 1864 according to a design by the Dresden architect Albert Stock and replaced the previous building, which was destroyed in the city fire in 1859 and which still stood in the middle of the market square. The building has a 43 meter high town hall tower.

After the fall of the Wall , the renovation and restoration of the town hall began in 1990 . Until 2009, while the official business continued, stairwells, corridors and the council chamber were renovated in several parts. In 2006, stucco ceilings from the building at Feldstrasse 6 were installed in the areas of the mayor's office and the main office on the first floor after it had to be demolished.

Clockwork and chime

A clockwork from the Johann Manhardt company from Munich was installed in the town hall tower during construction in 1863 . The Oelsnitz master watchmaker Karl-Heinz Tietz took over the operation and maintenance for 55 years . In 1917 a ringing made of steel bells was installed, which was replaced at the end of the renovation in 2009. In addition, the movement was converted to an electronic design. The old mechanical clockwork is still preserved.
