The Hietzigbrunnen , alternatively known as the Rathausbrunnen , is a listed fountain in the inner old town of Dresden . It is located between the New Town Hall and the Kreuzkirche at the intersection of An der Kreuzkirche and Schulgasse .

The fountain was built in 1911 by Georg Wrba . The octagonal structure consists of Lusatian granite , it has a total of eight gargoyles in the form of four mask and fish reliefs each. The CG Kunath Granitwerke from Demitz-Thumitz took over the construction of the plant. The fountain was donated by Paul Jahn and Bruno Hietzig , the owners of the granite works at the time, who also donated the fairy tale fountain in Dresden's Hermann Seidel Park .

The Hietzigbrunnen was restored in 1992 and is owned by the city of Dresden.

Wroclaw dwarf

On the occasion of the 55-year partnership between Dresden and Wroclaw in 2014, the Wroclaw mayor presented the city of Dresden with a Wroclaw dwarf . The approximately 30 centimeter high bronze figure holds the coats of arms of both cities in its hands. Dresden's mayor Helma Orosz inaugurated the sculpture on February 5, 2015 at its location on the edge of the Hietzig fountain.
