Ratnasiri Wickremanayake ( Sinhalese රත්නසිරි වික්‍රමනායක , Tamil இரத்தினசிறி விக்கிரமநாயக்க ; * May 5, 1933 ; † December 27, 2016 ) was a politician of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP). He was Prime Minister of Sri Lanka from 2000 to 2001 and 2005 to 2010 .

Wickremanayake was appointed Prime Minister by President Chandrika Kumaratunga after the 2000 general election and held this post until the 2001 general election . After the Sri Lanka Freedom Party won the 2004 elections , he became Minister for Buddhist Affairs, Security and Justice under Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa . After Rajapaksa won the presidential election in 2005 and moved to the presidency, Wickremanayake succeeded him in the office of prime minister and served there until 2010.

Wickremanayake pursued a hard line towards the LTTE and rejected a Tamil state as well as an autonomy of the northern province . He made negotiations with the LTTE conditional on the cessation of their terrorist activities.
