The building at Karlstrasse 1 was built around 1560. During the city fire of 1636, the house remained undamaged and later became the property of a woolen cloth dealer. From 1721 to 1945 the farm pharmacy, founded in 1585, was located here. In 1900 the old timber framework was exposed and a gable was built over the entrance. Further renovation work took place in 1936. Numerous objects (documents, faience, mortars and a herb press from 1645) from the former farm pharmacy are in the Thuringian Museum in Eisenach.

In private ownership until 1948, the pharmacy was expropriated by order of the Soviet military administration and renamed the Rats-Apotheke. In 1952 it became the seat of the district pharmacist for the Eisenach district . At the beginning of the 1960s, the historical furnishings were replaced by modern fittings. Since November 1990 the building and pharmacy have been privately owned again.

In addition to the pharmacy, the building now houses a travel agency, medical practices and offices.
