Ratzenberg ( westallgäuerisch Ratz e b e rg ) is a hamlet of the town of Lindenberg im Allgäu in Lindau and part of the region Westallgäu . The place is northwest of the main town Lindenberg.

history

The name Ratzenberg possibly goes back to the name of the founder of the place with the name Ratini or Ratzo . Another theory is based on clearing when the village was founded, from which the name came from Rod zum Berg .

Ratzenberg belonged to the city of Wangen from around 1400 to 1614 . Around 1845 the Ölbergkapelle was built in the village by the economist Anton Boch. In 1970 the place was removed from the municipality of Opfenbach and incorporated into the city of Lindenberg.

Approx. 400 meters east of the village chapel are the remains of a castle stable, the details of which are not known.
