Western Allgäu today

Western Allgäu is being pushed back more and more by standard German and by the relatively widespread dialects Swabian and Bavarian . For example, not only has the West Allgäu vocabulary decreased significantly in the last hundred years; The typical characteristics of the Western Allgäu are also getting lost more and more. For example, nouns like “Eeschdtriichar” rarely end [-ar]and, among today's youth, can usually only be distinguished [sch]from the corresponding High German words (here “Österreicher”) by a southern German (ie “Öschterreicher”).
