Rauhfaser is a German alternative rock band from Stuttgart , which particularly attracted attention at the turn of the millennium.

history

The musicians Zam Helga , Morscher and the fashion design student Tira met as early as 1990 in the Exil pub in Stuttgart. Zam Helga works in the music group Helga Pictures and Morscher at Problem, which is why a musical collaboration does not take place until years later. At the end of the 1990s the three finally form the Rauhfaser group.

Udo Kier , who had a personal interest in Rauhfaser's music, was featured in the music video for the first single, Die Schöne und das Biest . A year later he gave the band an appearance in his movie Broken Cookies . In autumn 2000 the first album Netropol was released (on the Marlboro / BMG label), which offers not only rock elements but also experimental and electro. The lyrics are all German. Critical praise, appearances on music television and two further single releases follow (of which Sheila with an Oomph! Remix). In 2002 work began on the follow-up album, but it was not completed. Although the group was never officially disbanded, the project has been on hold since 2004. Singer and guitarist Zam Helga has been working on two solo albums since 2005.
