The space program is at the beginning of a building plan and is determined by the client as part of the project development , e.g. B. compiled by the competition management as part of the preparation of an architecture competition . It provides an initial detailed overview of the construction task and serves as the basis for building planning in the further course.

features

A room plan can be a useful tool for both new buildings and renovation of old buildings . With the help of the space program, the scope and equipment of the main building uses can be shown without claiming to be complete and / or closed. It is used by the client as a tool to compile and detail his requirements and wishes. It serves the architect as an initial orientation for the building design without already containing a spatial design.

Components

The room program usually shows a list of the rooms to be created in tabular form. Each room can be assigned usage-dependent attributes. The type and scope of the spatial program depend on the later use of the building. The spatial program is not tied to any external form, the presentation depends on the content.

Room book

In addition to the listing of the desired rooms, the planning target, the room program can be detailed and specified in parallel with the progress of the project. This creates a room book that documents the planning results for the tendering of construction works and the results of the construction work for the later building operation. The typical room book data includes all room properties such as the room area, room contents, floor coverings, wall coverings, building technology elements such as electrical installations , fixtures and furniture.
