History and description

The company Julius Pohlig from Cologne received the contract from the local council in 1952 local mountain to tap from Ruhpolding by a cable car tourists. The pre-assembled hanging cabins each for around 20 people were transported to the foot of the Rauschberg by truck. There, a valley station for ticket sales, a kiosk with postcards and a small restaurant was built from masonry. On the way to the mountain station, a steel lattice mast was installed as an intermediate support over two thirds of the length , on which the incline of the rope is 92% (42.6 degrees).

The fully locked suspension cable of the Rauschbergbahn, designed as an aerial tramway, has a diameter of 42 mm and is unbreakable up to a load of 187,900 kg. The rope in Seale -Machart is 20 mm thick and the counterweight rope, also in open style, 23 mm. In addition, an auxiliary rope is tensioned as a strand with a diameter of 15 mm. All ropes for the railway were manufactured by Felten & Guillaume Carlswerk Eisen- und Stahl AG from Cologne. The drive in the valley station is provided by two DC motors, each with an output of 156 kW. This means that the rope can be driven on at a maximum speed of 9 m / s, the nominal speed being 5.5 m / s, which corresponds to a travel time of approx. 6 minutes. Between this and the valley station there is a 1350 meter span .

In the waiting area of the mountain station there is a small art exhibition by Angerer the Younger , which refers to old stories of the mountain range, including an artistically designed feeding stick that stood at an alpine hut as an entrance support. Huge works of art by him are visible from afar on the rocks, for example a dancing mountain spirit also as a feeding picture (in outline) and a portrait of a composer.
