Ray Barra

Ray Barra (born January 3, 1930 in San Francisco ) is an American ballet dancer , ballet master and ballet director.

Ray Barra worked as a soloist with the American Ballet Theater and as a solo dancer with the Stuttgart Ballet , where he became known as the protagonist of John Cranko's choreographies . Among his most important roles was Romeo in Romeo and Juliet, with Marcia Haydée as Juliet.

After retiring as an active dancer due to injury, he worked as a ballet master with the Berlin State Ballet, the Frankfurt Opera Ballet , the Hamburg Ballet and the Ballet Nacional de España .
