Raymond Benson

Raymond Benson (born September 6, 1955 in Midland , Texas ) is an American writer .

He is best known internationally as the author of James Bond novels. In 1996 he officially succeeded John Gardner as James Bond writer and wrote 9 Bond novels, of which Tomorrow Never Dies , The World Is Not Enough and Die Another Day are the novel versions of the respective film scripts.

Apart from the novel versions of the scripts, only two James Bond novels by the first American Bond author have been translated into German: Zero Minus Ten and The Facts Of Death .

After finishing his work on James Bond in 2003, he wrote two novels for Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell series under the pseudonym David Michaels . He then published the official novels for the games Metal Gear Solid and Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty , which were also published in German under the same title. Most recently he published the video game novel Homefront : The Voice of Freedom with John Milius .

Raymond Benson studied at the University of Texas , which he left in 1978 with a BFA in Directing .
