Simon Rudnicki (born October 20, 1552 in Sieradz , † July 4, 1621 in Heilsberg ) was Prince-Bishop of Warmia .

Life

He began his training in Kalisz , then he studied at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow , in Bologna and Rome . In Rome he spent several years at the court of Cardinal Stanislaus Hosius . After returning home, he became secretary and travel companion to Kings Stephan Báthory and Sigismund III. Wasa . As the ambassador of the King of Poland, he made several trips to Königsberg to check that the Prussian feudal obligations were fulfilled . On January 12th, 1605 he was appointed Bishop of Warmia and on March 6th, 1605 he received episcopal ordination by Claudio Rangoni , Bishop of Reggio Emilia ; Co-consecrators were Piotr Tylicki, Bishop of Włocławek , and Benedykt Woyna (or Wojna), Bishop of Vilnius . Rudnicki died on July 4, 1621 in Heilsberg and was buried in the Frauenburg Cathedral .
