Raymond Haroutioun Kévorkian
Raymond Haroutioun Kévorkian ( Armenian Ռեյմոնդ Հարություն Գևորգյան ; * February 22, 1953 ) is a French historian of Armenian origin (from Turkey ).
Life
Raymond Kévorkian graduated from Paris VIII Vincennes - Saint-Denis University in 1980 , where he now teaches and works as Research Director at the Institut Français de Géopolitique . Kévorkian is the director of the Nubarian library in Paris . He is also editor of the magazine Revue d'Histoire Arménienne contemporaine .
Kévorkian is the author of the book The Armenian Genocide. A Complete History , an in-depth account of the origins, events and consequences of the Armenian genocide . Originally published in French in 2006 and subsequently in English, this book details the genocide and provides an analysis of what happened and how it affected the Armenian community . The publisher IB Tauris describes this book as an indispensable source for historians of the period, as well as for those who want to better understand the genocide.
In 2010, Kévorkian received the award from Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan in recognition of his important contributions as a scholar and researcher. He is a member of the Société de Géographie and a board member of the International Association for Armenian Studies . He is a foreign member of the Armenian National Academy of Sciences .
