Product (chemistry)
A product is a substance created by a chemical reaction . A starting material, on the other hand, is referred to as reactants or reactants (outdated also educt ).
A reaction can produce one or more products. In addition to the desired main product, there are often by-products that can be used elsewhere.
If a reaction is in a state of equilibrium , the products can also be referred to as reactants and vice versa. The distinction between reactant and product is thus arbitrary in the case of an equilibrium reaction.
