Real Life is an Australian new wave and synth pop band. With hits like Send Me an Angel and Catch Me I'm Falling from their debut album Heartland , the group also became known in German-speaking countries from 1984 onwards .

history

Real Life was founded in Melbourne in 1981 and emerged from the band The Wires, in which David Sterry, Richard Zatorski and Alan Johnson performed together as a trio. After Real Life had made a name for itself locally through a variety of live performances in the first two years, drummer Danny Simcic joined in 1982. The band signed their first record deal that same year.

The first single Send Me an Angel was released in Australia in May 1983 and promptly became the biggest hit. Europe and the USA followed about half a year later.

First Real Life was successful at home, then also in other European countries and even in the USA, where the single again reached a top 40 position in early 1989 as a re-release. In Germany, the title was even number 1 in the charts in May 1984.

After a few line-up changes, Real Life was just a duo. In 2005, George Pappas finally left the band. The singer David Sterry, the last remaining band member, still appears today as Real Life at festivals. In 2009 an album with remixes and cover versions was released .
