Reality Z is a Brazilian horror and zombie apocalypse series. The series has been aired by Netflix since 2020 as an adaptation of Charlie Brooker's miniseries Dead Set .
It has not yet been dubbed in German, but can be accessed with German subtitles.

Rio de Janeiro in 2020: Brandão is the producer of a nationwide reality TV show called "Olimpo" (in German Olympus ; this series contains elements from Big Brother ). Meanwhile, an unknown, deadly virus is being reported in the media, causing mass hysteria and mass deaths. After death, the infected turn into extremely aggressive zombies , this is how the virus spreads. At the beginning of the action, Brandão is supposed to be the voice of Zeus on the reality TV show and tell a candidate about her excerpt from the show. When the candidate was released into the farewell party with great media interest, events came thick and fast: the undead, which had previously been accidentally dragged onto the production site by people, began to bite the audience sporadically and later en masse and thus also infect them . The remaining living people flee to the production site and are now trying to ensure their survival together.

criticism
The star titled the series as a mixture of The Walking Dead and Big Brother:
"Reality Z" is a series that virtually puts "The Walking Dead" in a "Big Brother" setting. A reality show in which real candidates are duped in "hidden camera" fashion, but it is not, should this question cause confusion among some Netflix users. And there's one thing it's not either: a new idea. "
Among other things, Stern's review also mentions that the series is an exact copy of Charlie Brooker's Dead Set . This is not true insofar as Dead Set is set in Great Britain, for example, and takes on a season of Big Brother as a framework.
Film-Rezensions.de wrote about the series that it unfortunately uses the setting far too seldom, but that it would be very entertaining and exciting.
