Rebel

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Rebeln is a process in which the flowers , calyxes and leaves of dried herbs are obtained by rubbing or scraping. A distinction is made between rebels (machine) and hand rebels.

In machine extraction, the plants are cut off, dried and then mechanically chopped up. As a result, the end product contains a higher proportion of stems than its hand-pounded counterpart .

Hand-pounded means: The end product is obtained from the air- dry plants by gently rubbing or scraping the flowers, calyxes and leaves by hand. Hand-pounded spices contain flowers, leaves, petioles, fine stems or herb tips in a characteristic composition, which, in contrast to Rebeln, is characterized by a small percentage of stems and petioles. The higher effort causes a difference in quality and price.
