Rebutia xanthocarpa is a species of plant in the genus Rebutia from the cactus family(Cactaceae).

description

Rebutia xanthocarpa grows sprouts with flattened, spherical, green bodies and forms groups. With a diameter of 5 centimeters, the bodies reach heights of up to 4.5 centimeters and have fiber roots. The 17 to 20 ribs are divided into short humps. The circular areoles on it are light brown. The gray or white or yellowish, glassy 15 to 20  spines are indistinguishable in central and radial spines. They are somewhat spread out to slightly protruding and are 2 to 7 millimeters long. Four of the thorns are somewhat stronger and point upwards.

The carmine-red to light red flowers are up to 2 centimeters long and have the same diameter. The pericarpel and the tube are bare. The spherical fruits are orange-yellow.

Distribution and systematics

Rebutia xanthocarpa is widespread in northern Argentina in the province of Salta at altitudes of 2700 to 3000 meters. The first description was published in 1932 by Curt Backeberg .
