Legal specialist

Legal specialist is a job title for particularly qualified employees in legal and patent attorney's offices . The ordinance on the examination for the recognized qualification of certified legal specialist from 23 August 2001 ( Federal Law Gazette I p. 2250) created the legal basis for further qualifications in law offices for the first time. This job title will in the long run replace the job title of office manager or office manager in law offices.

entry requirements

The admission requirements for the legal specialist exam are:

  • Passed the examination as a legal assistant (also notary and patent attorney assistant ) with two years of professional experience or
  • At least six years of professional experience, whereby this professional experience must have substantial connections to the tasks in a law office.

The time of the final examination is decisive for the necessary duration of the professional experience.

Areas

Special knowledge must be demonstrated in the following areas:

  1. Organization of office processes and monitoring of communication systems ,
  2. business problem analysis, management of accounting ,
  3. Independent personnel deployment as well as personnel management, vocational training, service-oriented handling of clients and third parties,
  4. Supervision of all costs of the law firm , preparation of legal remedies and legal remedies ,
  5. Independent processing of all foreclosure matters , taking into account the respective material law.

Private providers also offer courses of study that end with a “Diplom” (“Dipl.-Rechtsfachwirt” or “Dipl.- Notarfachwirt ”). However, these designations are not an academic degree .
