Cologne Rand Canal on the right bank of the Rhine

The Cologne Rand Canal on the right bank of the Rhine is 12 kilometers long and runs underground from Bergisch Gladbach- Refrath to Cologne- Stammheim , where it flows into the Rhine . It serves as a flood protection channel for the streams on the right bank of the Rhine . It is maintained by the Zweckverband Rechtsrheinischer Kölner Randkanal, to which the municipal drainage company of Cologne and the Bergisch Gladbach sewage works belong. It was put into operation around 1985.
