Reclam's piano music guide

Reclam's Piano Music Guide is a music guide in two volumes. It was first published in 1967/68 by the Philipp Reclam jun. published in Stuttgart and is currently in the 8th edition.

Structure and content

The first volume appears with the subtitle Early, Baroque and Classic , the second with From Franz Schubert to the Present . The two volumes each contain a preface, the lexicon and an appendix.

The lexicon part contains life pictures ( biographies ), music-historical classifications and descriptions of the composers' works . The composers are arranged chronologically according to the year of their birth. Every outstanding composer is presented in detail with his piano works (e.g. preludes , fugues , sonatas , fantasies , variations and piano concertos ). Numerous examples of notes explain the verbal statements.

The appendix of each volume contains a bibliography and an alphabetical index of the composers and their works. The volumes close with the table of contents.
