Recto verso (in German: 'front and back') is the second studio album by the French singer Zaz , which was released on May 10, 2013. The music of the songs mixes the styles of chanson , soul , jazz and gypsy swing .
reception
The album is received mostly positively by the critics. In the Frankfurter Neue Presse it is described as a “cleverly composed album that constantly tries out new, contrasting aromas”. The critics of Deutschlandradio Kultur are similarly benevolent.
The Radio Europe (WDR) has declared the album to the CD of the week and praised: "On their second album perfected the former street singer from Paris their success formula from nouvelle chanson with rapid Gypsy swing and sparkling pop - and retains its rough edges."
The SWR is also impressed by recto verso and writes, Zaz “musically strings one déjà vu effect after the next, but it never bores for a moment.”
The CD tip from Die Welt says: “This time there is again a lot of Nouvelle Chanson Pop in a wide variety of versions. Always there: catchy quality with a French holiday feeling. "The review by Crazewire closes the positive criticism with the sentence:" Recto Verso tells the beautiful and colorful story of a French woman who went out into the wide world to do what she really loves - music . On the other hand, the criticism on laut.de is negative . Zaz complies with "strangely anemic and pale-swinging pop without leaving a lasting impression."

A "Limited Deluxe Edition" contains the deluxe CD + DVD and the vinyl album (with 14 songs of the standard edition).
The "Collector Edition" contains the CD with 14 songs, a second CD with 9 additional songs and the DVD with the documentation.
