RedDot

RedDot is the former product name of OpenText Web Site Management , a web content management system offered by Open Text Web Solutions AG (formerly RedDot Solutions AG), a division of the Canadian company Open Text Corporation .

history

InfoOffice AG was founded in 1993 at the headquarters in Oldenburg and has been operating as RedDot Solutions AG since April 2001.

In June 2005, Hummingbird acquired all of the RedDot shares. In October 2006, Hummingbird and RedDot were acquired by Open Text Corporation.

Since January 2006, RedDot has been called the Open Text Web Solutions Group .

In 2007, Gartner's RedDot was the only German provider to receive a positive rating in the MarketScope for Web Content Management for the ECM Suite.

Release 16 of the Web Site Management (CMS) Server and Delivery (Live) Server has been available since March 31, 2016.

The release 16.0.2 (16.0 Service Pack 2) of Web Site Management (Server and Delivery Server) has been on the market since September 26, 2017. New asset manager, over 66 new features, optimizations and clean-ups or corrections can be found.

The currently valid release 16.0.3 (16.0 Service Pack 3) of Web Site Management (server and delivery server) has been on the market since the end of June 2018. Lots of updates under the hood and a real performance, maintenance and feature update release.

The next release 16.7 of Web Site Management (server and delivery server) is announced for the end of 2019 (Q4 / 2019). With a new editor UI and many new features.

Products

The RedDot mainly consists of 3 products:

• RedDot Content Management Server (CMS)
• RedDot Extended Content Management Server (XCMS)
• RedDot LiveServer

The RedDot-CMS is based on Windows-Server, ASP.Net , C # and the proprietary query language RQL (RedDot Query Language). The user interface required the use of Internet Explorer up to version 11.2.1. With version 7, the system was expanded to include some ASPX .NET components that are intended to simplify the creation of navigation. Furthermore, RedDot-specific tags were inserted with the Navigation Manager, but the Navigation Manager lacks a detailed authorization concept. Since version 16.0 the management (RedDot) server is completely on .NET 4.6.1 and purely 64-bit. The delivery (live) server was also completely converted to Java 1.8. For a long time, both products have had a simple OneClick installer for quick and uncomplicated installations of hotfixes and upgrades.
