The Red Buttress Peak (English for Red pillars summit ) is a 1,060 m high mountain in the East Antarctic Victoria Land . It rises from a massive rock massif between the lower sections of the Benson and Hunt glaciers . Its eastern flank consists of a large cliff made of red granite .
The New Zealand Northern Group of the Commonwealth Trans-Antarctic Expedition (1955-1958) gave it its descriptive name.
