Red Cedar Lake ( French Lac des Cèdres ) is a reservoir in the Nipissing District of the Canadian province of Ontario .
The lake is 40 km north of Lake Nipissing . It was created by damming the two rivers Temagami River and Marten River . Below the three dams is Thistle Lake . The Temagami River drains the lakes to the southwest and flows into the Sturgeon River , which flows to Lake Nipissing.
Red Cedar Lake is an artificial lake that was originally dammed for timber rafting. Today the gradient is used by a hydroelectric power station. The water levels of the reservoir can vary greatly.
In the lake there are fish populations of glass eye perch , pike , black bass , American river perch and American char .
