The Red Rock is a volcano in the Newer Volcanics Province in Victoria in Australia , 6 km from Gisborne and about 60 km from Melbourne .
The volcano is about 490 m above sea level and rises 45 m above its surroundings. Its crater consists of solidified lava and slag. It is flattened at the top and runs out into the surrounding lava area. Red Rock contains a higher proportion of red slag than the surrounding volcanic area, which can be seen in a small quarry to the west. The landscape surrounding the volcano is characterized by other volcanoes and maars .
The land in which it is located is farmed, so it is feared that this could affect its shape.
