Red Solidaria

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Red Solidaria ( Spanish : solidaric network ) is an international welfare and development aid organization with a focus on South America, which originated in Argentina in 1995 . It acts as an intermediary between different organizations and individuals in order to develop projects and thereby alleviate social problems.

Unlike most other organizations of this type, Red Solidaria does not specialize in a specific problem area. Rather, the initiatives come from individuals and organizations who are supported by it in logistics , in particular in mediating between those in need and those willing to help.

history

The organization was founded in 1995 by the veterinarian Juan Carr in the province of Buenos Aires . According to his own statements, he had come into contact with the grievances in rural Argentina through his job. Initially developed as a purely private project with his wife and three friends, Red Solidaria developed into one of the country's leading non-governmental organizations in the second half of the 1990s. Towards the end of the decade, activities were expanded to include neighboring countries and contacts to social networks were established in the USA and Europe. For example, one of the most famous Red Solidaria projects, Missing Children , came about in cooperation with a US project. The international department was called Red Solidaria Global .

Carr is now the Latin American director of the activities of Red Solidaria. In January 2008 the Red Solidaria was proposed by UNESCO for the Nobel Peace Prize.

organization

Red Solidaria works with around 300 organizations working in parallel. She takes care of the coordination of the projects among one another and maintains a hotline to bring solidarity providers of goods (e.g. clothes and food) and those in need together.

Projects

The projects are partly obtained from an ideas database called Ideas de la Red Solidaria , in which anyone interested can participate.

Clasificados Solidarios

Together with the foundation of the newspaper La Nación , Red Solidaria offers a solidarity classified advertisement service. This is free for non-governmental organizations and private individuals and is published every day in the newspaper and on the Internet. The aim is to establish contacts between NGOs and people in need.

Department of Transformación de la Realidad (DTR)

The Departamento de Transformación de la Realidad (DTR, Department for Changing Reality) is a platform initiated by Red Solidaria that takes care of the implementation of specific social projects. The range of activities is broad and includes projects in the fields of education and health, for which fundraising is carried out.

The DTR develops its projects in four phases:

  • Detection of the so-called centers for changing reality . These are problem areas where a project is considered useful. Contact is made with those affected.
  • Communication: The DTR offers a platform for the exchange with potential helpers as well as the announcement of the new project.
  • Logistics : It helps to set up a logistics structure and thus to work together with other organizations.
  • In the last stage, the so-called etapa de dignificación (for example: stage of increasing the quality of life), the concrete project is pushed forward and the social hardships are alleviated.

NUTRIR program

The NUTRIR program (from span. Nutrir , to feed) aims to combat malnutrition among children in Argentina. There is cooperation between local organizations and national agencies.

Chicos Perdidos / Missing Children

Chicos Perdidos , known as Missing Children , was created in 1999 in cooperation with the US organization International Center for Missing and Exploited Children (ICMEC) and aims to find lost children. Missing Children places nationwide advertisements in mass media in order to establish contact between parents and children and has already brought several hundred families together.

Agencia de Prensa Humanitaria (APH)

The APH is a social press agency . It is organized as a decentralized information network and forwards news from problem areas of society to the mass media in order to attract the attention of public opinion . It works specifically in the areas of education, work, housing, health, indigenous peoples, lost children, violence and the environment.
