Castiel church with the Christopherus motif

The Reformed Church in Castiel in Schanfigg is a Protestant - Reformed church , the 1132 first mentioned and originally St. George was dedicated.

History and equipment

In 1510 a late Gothic new building was built, which was renovated in 1907 and restored in 1976. The size of the church and the mighty nave , reinforced by struts, suggest that for centuries it was also the church for Praden on the left side of the Schanfigg valley.

A picture of Christophorus on the eastern wall of the choir is only faintly visible. The choir itself is characterized by a star vault. The wooden pulpit dates from 1656 after the end of the turmoil in Graubünden .

Church organization

Today Castiel is looked after by the parish office in St. Peter and belongs to Colloquium VI Schanfigg-Churwalden in the Evangelical Reformed Church of Graubünden .
