The Reformed Church Gampelen is a church building in the municipality of Gampelen in the Bernese Seeland , Switzerland .

history

Before the Reformation, the church was under the patronage of Saint Martin of Tours . In 1513 a new building was realized. The current church was built in 1674–1675 by Abraham Dünz .

description

The baroque church is designed as a hall church with a non-retracted polygonal end. It can be entered via a front tower that was raised in the 1830s. The church is illuminated through arched windows and oculi over the side portals. The grisaille paintings from 1676 around the windows, which are reminiscent of Dünz's church in Gränichen, are remarkable . The choir stalls , the pulpit and the font also date from the construction period and form an important ensemble. The gallery comes from the previous church and was expanded in 1812. 1946–1947 the windows in the nave were decorated with stained glass by Paul Zehnder .
