The Reformed Church in Grüsch in the Prättigau is Evangelical - Reformed church under the monument of the canton of Grisons .

History and equipment

The current church building was erected in 1720 on the ground of two previous churches, which were also under the patronage of St. Antonius and were branch churches of Schiers until the Reformation , before they became independent and were granted burial rights. It is noticeable that the tower is separated from the nave at a distance of 10 meters . The cemetery, newly laid out in 1880, which replaced the old churchyard that had become too small, is located 125 meters from the church at the Pfrundhaus garden . The relocation of the newer church and the older tower can be explained by previous storms and the associated destruction.

In the center of the interior of the church is a baptismal table , which, according to the Reformed Graubünden custom, also functions as a place for the Lord's Supper .

When the Habsburgs put down the Prättigau uprising in 1622 , they stole the bells. As a result, the bells did not ring in Grüsch for years. A small bell with the year 1643 - and thus cast after the end of the Bündner turmoil - is still in use today (as of 2013) as a school bell.

The Metzler organ in the gallery is two-manual and has 14 registers. It was installed in 1952.

Church organization

Grüsch forms a pastoral community with Fanas . The Evangelical Reformed Regional Church of Graubünden leads both parishes within the Colloquium IX Prättigau .
