Reformed Church of Mastrils

The Reformed Church in Mastrils (municipality Landquart ) above the Chur Rhine Valley is an Evangelical - Reformed church under the monument of the canton of Grisons .

History and equipment

The small church was built for the Reformed Mastrils families shortly before the outbreak of the Bündner turmoil in 1613/14 due to the efforts of pastor Johann a Porta . The inauguration took place on St. Stephen's Day in 1614. During the Austrian occupation, the building was rededicated in 1623/24 and forcibly transferred to the Catholics and was given the patronage name “Maria vom Siege”. In 1644 after the withdrawal of all foreign troops, including the French, who had meanwhile used the church as an arsenal, it was returned to the Protestant parish. The village of Mastrils has since been committed to denominational parity .

The nave has a hipped roof over the choir with a turret with a pointed helmet .

Church organization

The Evangelical Reformed Regional Church of Graubünden runs Mastrils as a small independent parish, which has always been looked after by a pastor who lives outside, within the colloquium V Herrschaft-Fünf Dörfer .
