The Reformed Church of St. Sulpice ( French Temple de Saint-Sulpice ) is a church building in Saint-Sulpice NE in the municipality of Val-de-Travers NE , Switzerland .

history

After a fire, the church was rebuilt by Frédéric Meuron in 1820-21 . The tower by François-Antoine Favre from 1804 was preserved.

description

The church is designed as an oval transverse church and was inspired by the Temple of La Chaux-de-Fonds and by earlier oval transverse churches in western Switzerland.

The nave is on the short side of the tower with dome roof added, via a rusticated portal can be accessed. The church interior is illuminated through arched lattice windows and can be entered via the two portals on the long sides. The rows of seats are arranged according to the unusual scheme of the Greek theater .
