Sargans Reformed Church
The Reformed Church Sargans is an Evangelical - Reformed church in Sargans in the canton of St. Gallen . The church is in the northwest of the town on Zürcherstrasse .
history
Sargans did not accept the Reformation in the 16th century . Protestants did not come to the Sarganserland until the railway was built in the 19th century . A Reformed pastor had been in office in Sargans since 1933 and looked after the diaspora community . In 1955, an evangelical reformed parish was established, which also included the villages of Mels and Vilters-Wangs .
The architect Cyrill von Planta built the church including the parish hall in 1958/59. In 1994 a community hall was added and in 1998 the entire complex was completely renovated.
An urn cemetery is attached to the church .
Interior
The pews are arranged in the shape of a hexagon around the central communion table. The room is dominated by the mighty organ , which is also subordinated to the floor pulpit on the right, without a sound cover .
