The Reformed Church in Serneus in Prättigau is a Protestant - Reformed church under the monument of the canton of Grisons ( Switzerland ).

History and equipment

The church was built in the pre-Reformation period in 1479 as a late Gothic building under the patronage of St. Sebastian . The adjacent tower has a tent roof with a pointed helmet .

The pulpit from 1674 rests on a stone foot and is richly decorated with wood carvings. A mighty preaching chair from the 18th century stands in front of its entrance .

From the time of the Prättigau uprising during the Graubünden turmoil , the legend has been handed down that in 1622 an Austrian soldier met a woman reading the Luther Bible in the church and hit the book with his halberd .

Church organization

Serneus and Klosters - analogous to the political unification - have been forming a common parish since 1975, after the village had formed an independent parish since the Reformation and had its own pastor since 1723.

One of the two pastors of the entire Klosters-Serneus parish lives in the rectory in Serneus. The Evangelical Reformed Regional Church of Graubünden leads Klosters-Serneus within the colloquium IX Prättigau .
