The Refratechnik Group is a manufacturer of refractory materials . Furnaces for the production of cement and quicklime , ferrous and non-ferrous metals, ceramic building materials and waste incineration plants are equipped with refractory bricks and materials from Refrate technology. The company, which was founded in 1950 in Göttingen as Steinwerke Feuerfest Karl Albert , has become a global group of companies under the leadership of Alexander Tutsek (1927–2011).

Refratechnik Cement GmbH with headquarters in Göttingen and subsidiaries in Italy, Spain, the USA and Mexico; Refratechnik Asia Ltd. in Hong Kong, China, with subsidiaries in Yingkou and Zibo , China, Refratechnik Steel GmbH in Düsseldorf, with the subsidiary Refratechnik Casting GmbH , Refratechnik Ceramics GmbH (formerly Burton ) in Melle with the subsidiary Refratechnik Hungaria Kft. in Hungary and Baymag Inc. in Calgary, Canada, owner of a magnesite deposit with a typical purity of> 97%. The Refratechnik Group employs almost 1,500 people at 19 locations around the world, 9 of which are production sites. The production capacity is more than 500,000 tons per year.

Refratechnik is part of Refratechnik Holding GmbH in Ismaning . Alexander Tutsek was the sole shareholder and chairman of the management until his death in 2011. Legal successors as shareholders are the non-profit Alexander-Tutsek-Stiftung , which Tutsek founded in 2000 with his wife Eva-Maria Fahrner-Tutsek, and a family foundation that continue the company in Tutsek's sense.
