Reginald Ewart "Reg" Stanway (born April 25, 1892 in Langley Mill , † September 12, 1972 in Mapperley ) was an English football player .

Career

Stanway, a miner by profession , was part of the reserve team of Nottingham Forest in the 1911/12 season and made his first-team competitive debut on the final day of the Football League Second Division 1911/12 . As a right wing runner , he formed the right defensive side with Prestwood Machin , another debutant; it remained the only mission for both of them. Nottingham had lost the previous seven games, in the sportingly insignificant home game against Fulham FC they drew 1-1.

As a result, he joined Ilkeston United , who played in the Central Alliance . In April 1914 he belonged as a right wing runner to a league selection of the Central Alliance, which played a game against league champions FC Shirebrook (final score 1: 1). In addition to greats like the two England internationals Steve Bloomer and George Richards , Machin played again as right defender behind Stanway, this time as a player from the Notts County reserves . For the 1921/22 season, Stanway moved from Ilkeston to the newly incorporated club Heanor Town . In 1925 he was one of three players who remained in the squad of Heanor Town after a league change to the Derbyshire Senior Alliance .
