Regina Hitzelberger
Regina Hitzelberger , married Regina Lang , also Regina Hitzelberger-Lang ( February 15, 1788 in Würzburg - May 10, 1827 in Munich ), was a German opera singer ( soprano ).
Life
Hitzelberger, the daughter of the opera singer Sabine Hitzelberger (1755–1815) and the flautist Franz Ludwig Joseph Hitzelberger (before 1769 – after 1802), received singing lessons from her mother. She went to the Munich court theater and was appointed chamber singer after a short time .
In 1805, Napoleon Bonaparte , who heard her in the Munich court theater in the Interrupted Sacrifice Festival , in Don Juan and in Castor and Pollux and who liked her voice extremely, offered her an unusually high salary as a French chamber singer. However, like her mother in Paris in 1776, she turned down such an offer and stayed in Munich, where she worked until November 1811. After that she only worked as a court singer.
Hitzelberger's siblings were Catharina Elisabeth Hitzelberger (1777–1795), Kunigunde Hitzelberger (1778–1795) and Johanna Hitzelberger (1783–1849), all of whom were also singers.
On October 19, 1810, she married the violinist Theobald Lang (1783–1839). Her son Ferdinand Lang (1810–1882) became an actor, her daughter Josephine Caroline Lang (1815–1880) a composer. Heinrich Adolf Köstlin (1846–1907) was her grandson through her daughter and Therese Köstlin (1877–1964), a well-known Württemberg poet, was her great-granddaughter.
