Reginald "Reg" Lewis (born March 7, 1920 in Bilston , † April 2, 1997 in Chadwell Heath ) was an English football player . The center forward began his professional career before the Second World War , won the second post-war championship two years after the resumption of league operations with Arsenal and in 1950 scored the two goals for a 2-0 win in the FA Cup final against Liverpool .

life and career

Lewis began his career as a youth at Arsenal FC . He joined the club in 1935. On January 1, 1938, the Englishman made his debut for the Gunners. Due to the Second World War , his career was interrupted. After the fighting ended, he continued his career at Arsenal and won the English championship with Arsenal in 1948 and the English Cup in 1950 - when his club won the league again in 1953, he was still in the squad, but never got up in any game the place. When Reg Lewis won the Cup in 1950, he scored the only two goals in the final against Liverpool . In 1953 he ended his career after a total of 176 competitive games and 118 goals for Arsenal FC due to many injuries. He became a restaurant operator and insurance agent. Reg Lewis died in 1997.
